Helping individuals live in their communities

Our programs

We’re proud to offer a variety of programs and housing services to persons with disabilities and their families living in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver area. From independent affordable housing rentals to shared care, we believe that all persons with disabilities have the right to live with dignity, choice and joy. Many of our programs are in collaboration with Vancouver Coastal Health, Community Living BC, and the Ministry of Children and Family development.

  • Clients in this program have access to 24 hour shared care staffing which gives them the opportunity to live in their own apartment within a complex occupied by members of the community at large. Vancouver Coastal Health is the funder and referral agency for the program.

  • In this model, individuals direct their own care through Choice in Supports for Independent Living (CSIL) or other self-managed care programs. They receive a monthly rent subsidy, making their units more affordable but are responsible for sharing the cost of an overnight staff person who’s available to them all.

  • This program provides 24 hour care and support for adults with complex care needs, living in Vancouver. Beyond basic care, the focus of this program is the promotion of independence. As these individuals gain life experience and confidence in their own abilities, they will have more options and be better equipped to direct their own lives.

  • This program provides housing, care and support to children with disabilities and their families in Metro Vancouver. It is enhanced with the social, recreational, and educational opportunities so fundamentally important to the well being of any child.

Paramount to its success is the commitment of our dedicated staff in creating a family atmosphere in the homes to nurture the development of the kids. VRS takes special care to ensure that our children are comfortable and happy which, in essence, is the number one priority of this program.

This program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). To inquire, please contact your MCFD social worker.

  • VRS operates two adult day care programs in Vancouver, both with funding support provided by Community Living B.C. (CLBC).
